STRAWBERRY RASPBERRY SMOOTHIE

Strawberry Raspberry Smoothie image

I made this completely by accident, and i love it! I use Yoplait thick and creamy yougurt, i think it gives the drink the best texture, and I also use the condensed frozen juice, welches white grape is the best, but apple also works, depends on how sweet you like it. I also found substituting 1 Delmonte Fruit chiller in polar raspberry tastes better to me than the frozen berries themselves. To each his own. For a healthier smoothie use light yougurt, no sugar added juice, and skim milk.

Time 5m

Yield 5 cups, 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

6 ounces strawberry yogurt
6 ounces raspberry yogurt
1 cup frozen strawberries
1 cup frozen raspberries
1 cup white grape juice or 1 cup apple juice
1 cup milk (optional) or 1 cup water (optional)

Steps:

  • Add one cup of juice, strawberries, and raspberries into a blender.
  • Blend until most of the chunks are broken down, you will have to stop the blender and stir the contents to make sure all the big pieces get to the bottom.
  • Add the 2 yougurts and blend on liquify, slowly adding more juice/milk/water until the smoothie is the right consistancy for you.
  • If you add too much and it becomes watery, you can add more frozen berries and/or yogurt.
  • Adding the additional liquid is trial and error to determine which you prefer according to how sweet you like your smoothie. The juice will be the sweetest choice, then milk, then water.
  • Serve immediately.

Provided by Barbara Kavorkian

Categories     Other Breakfast

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 11

1/2 c yogurt, plain (strawberry or pineapple flavored optional)
1/3 c frozen strawberries
1/3 c frozen raspberries
1/2 c pineapple chunks in juice
2 tsp lime juice or 2 tbsp frozen lime concentrate
1 Tbsp honey or 2 splenda packets
5 ice cubes
1/8 tsp allspice
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1 Tbsp wheat germ (optional)
1 Tbsp flax (optional)

Steps:

  • 1. Place the yogurt, berries, pineapple, juice and honey or Splenda in a blender; cover and process until smooth. Add wheat germ, flax, spices and ice cubes; cover and process until smooth.

Tips:

  • To ensure the smoothest possible consistency, use frozen strawberries and raspberries. This will also help to keep your smoothie chilled without watering it down.
  • If you don't have frozen fruit, you can use fresh fruit and add a handful of ice cubes to the blender.
  • Adjust the amount of milk or yogurt you use to achieve your desired consistency. For a thicker smoothie, use less liquid. For a thinner smoothie, use more liquid.
  • Add a scoop of vanilla protein powder to boost the nutritional value of your smoothie and make it more filling.
  • For a sweeter smoothie, add a drizzle of honey or maple syrup. You can also add a pinch of stevia or other natural sweetener.
  • If you like, you can add a handful of spinach or kale to your smoothie for a nutrient boost. Just be sure to blend it well so that there are no large pieces of greens.

Conclusion:

This strawberry raspberry smoothie is a delicious and refreshing way to start your day or refuel after a workout. It's packed with nutrients, antioxidants, and fiber, and it's also a good source of protein. With just a few simple ingredients, you can have a delicious and healthy smoothie in no time.
