Steps:

  • 1. Wash and drain spinach and take off large stems. Put in large bowl.
  • 2. Wash and drain strawberries and cut into quarters. Put into bowl.
  • 3. Slice red onion thinly and put into bowl. I use whole onion but if you want, you can use half.

Tips:

  • Choose the right onions: Red onions are commonly used in this salad for their mild flavor and vibrant color. However, you can also use yellow or white onions if you prefer a stronger onion flavor.
  • Slice the onions thinly: Thinly sliced onions will help them blend well with the other ingredients and provide a more delicate texture.
  • Soak the onions in cold water: Soaking the onions in cold water for at least 10 minutes will help remove some of their sharpness and make them more palatable.
  • Use fresh strawberries: Fresh strawberries are essential for this salad, as they provide a sweet and juicy contrast to the tangy onions.
  • Choose a good quality balsamic vinegar: A good quality balsamic vinegar will add a rich and complex flavor to the salad. Look for a vinegar that is aged for at least 12 years.
  • Use a light hand with the olive oil: Olive oil is used to add moisture to the salad, but it is important not to use too much, as it can overwhelm the other flavors.
  • Season the salad to taste: Salt and pepper are the basic seasonings for this salad, but you can also add other herbs and spices to taste. Some popular additions include fresh basil, oregano, or thyme.

Conclusion:

Strawberry onion salad is a refreshing and flavorful dish that is perfect for a summer meal. The combination of sweet strawberries, tangy onions, and balsamic vinegar creates a unique and delicious flavor that is sure to please everyone at the table. This salad is also very easy to make, making it a great option for busy weeknights.
