STRAWBERRY-KIWI SANGRIA

Strawberry-Kiwi Sangria image

While I love the traditional sangria made with red wine, in the summer I tend to gravitate towards the white versions, ones made with sparkling wine, chardonnay or even pinot grigio. I love how crisp and fresh they taste, especially when mixed with a bit of soda or ginger beer. I also really enjoy how berries and more "summery" fruit taste when submerged in the white wine. It's refreshing and light, perfect on a super-hot summer day.

Time 1h10m

Yield 4 to 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 pints strawberries, some chopped and some left whole
One 750-milliliter bottle dry white wine, such as chardonnay, plus more if desired
1 cup fruit juice, such as pineapple or orange
1 cup club soda, plus more if desired
1/2 cup brandy
1/4 cup fresh mint leaves, plus more for garnish
4 kiwi fruit, peeled and sliced
2 limes, sliced

Steps:

  • Combine the strawberries, wine, fruit juice, club soda, brandy, mint leaves, kiwi and limes together in a large pitcher, jar or bowl and stir, stir, stir. Refrigerate for an hour or so (or longer!) before serving. Taste, and if it's too sweet for you, add a bit more soda or dry wine. If you let this sit overnight, it will turn a pretty shade of pink!
  • To serve, add some of the soaked fruit to a glass with crushed ice. Pour in the sangria and garnish with a mint leaf!

STRAWBERRY LIME ROSé SANGRIA

Strawberry Lime Rosé Sangria image

Light, refreshing, and simple. The bright ruby-red color is compliments of starting with a nice pink rose wine, and then soaking strawberries in it. Lime adds a zesty bite, rum gives it a bit more potency, and lemon-lime soda helps make it entirely too drinkable.

Time 4h10m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 1/2 cups strawberries (hulled and sliced lengthwise)
2 limes (thinly sliced)
1 750 ml bottle rosé wine (I like Rosé of Sangiovese)
1/2 cup white rum
4 cups lemon-lime soda
Ice
Additional strawberries and lime slices for garnish (if desired)

Steps:

  • Add sliced limes and strawberries to a large pitcher.
  • Pour the wine and rum over the top.
  • Cover tightly and place in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours (up to 24 hours).
  • Remove from refrigerator and add the lemon lime soda. Add ice and a few pieces of the fruit to your glass and pour sangria over to serve.

SPARKLING STRAWBERRY KIWI SANGRIA RECIPE BY TASTY

Sparkling Strawberry Kiwi Sangria Recipe by Tasty image

Here's what you need: strawberry, kiwi, light rum, white wine, sparkling wine, sugar, water, oranges, large pitcher

Provided by Chandreyee Sen

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 lb strawberry
1 lb kiwi
1 cup light rum
1 bottle white wine, (such as sauvignon blanc)
1 sparkling wine, chilled (such as cava)
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
3 oranges
large pitcher

Steps:

  • Hull the strawberries and cut them in half. Peel the kiwis and cut them into slices.
  • Combine half of the halved strawberries, the sugar and water in a saucepan and turn the heat up to medium. Bring the mixture up to a boil and then let simmer, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes, or until the strawberries seem like they're about to fall apart. 3.Let cool for a few minutes, and then, using a mesh sieve, strain the strawberry goodness into a bowl. Use a spoon to press the strawberries up against the mesh so you get every last beautiful drop of strawberry syrup. Place the syrup in the refrigerator to cool a bit.
  • Combine the kiwi slices and the remaining strawberries in a pitcher, and add the rum, white wine, strawberry syrup, and the juice of three oranges (in a pinch, you could also sub a few splashes of bottled orange juice, or even lemonade, for the fresh orange juice).
  • Give it all a good stir and then pop the pitcher in the refrigerator for at least four hours to let all of the flavors come together.
  • When you're ready to serve, add around three-quarters of the chilled sparkling wine to the pitcher. Pour into glasses and spoon in fruit, topping each glass off with a bit of the remaining champagne so it's nice a bubbly when you hand the glass to a friend. Cheers!
  • Enjoy!
