A neighbor served this wonderful salad at a summer barbecue. I've since experimented with many ingredient combinations, but this one draws the most compliments. I took it to a baby shower, and not a seed was left in the bowl. -Lisa Lesinski-Topp Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin

STRAWBERRY TOSSED SALAD

Meet the Cook: One reason I particularly like this recipe is that it's so versatile. I've served the salad with poultry, ham and pork all throughout the year and even used it to add color to the table at Christmas. Recently, when I brought this for a dinner at church, one lady asked if she could take home the little that was left for her husband's lunch the next day - and he very rarely eats salad or fruit. Right now, my husband and I are in the middle of building our retirement home out in the country. We have four grown children and five grandchildren. -Patricia McNamara, Kansas City, Missouri

Tips for Making the Best Strawberry Feta Tossed Salad

  • Use fresh, ripe strawberries for the best flavor. Look for strawberries that are bright red and plump, with no bruises or blemishes.
  • Choose a good quality feta cheese. A feta cheese that is made from sheep's milk or a blend of sheep's and goat's milk will have a richer flavor than a feta cheese made from cow's milk.
  • Use a light and flavorful dressing. A simple vinaigrette dressing made with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and a touch of honey is a great option. You can also use a store-bought dressing, but be sure to choose one that is light and not too heavy.
  • Add some crunch to the salad with nuts or seeds. Walnuts, pecans, and sunflower seeds are all good choices. You can also add some crumbled bacon or grilled chicken for extra protein.
  • Serve the salad immediately after it is made. The strawberries will start to wilt if they sit in the dressing for too long.

Conclusion

Strawberry feta tossed salad is a light, refreshing, and flavorful salad that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be customized to your liking. With its sweet strawberries, creamy feta cheese, and tangy dressing, this salad is sure to be a hit at your next party or gathering.
