STRAWBERRY BOWL CAKE

Who says that an easy dessert can't possibly be good? Well, I beg your pardon...it can! Give it a try and you'll see what I mean. This recipe came from a co-worker many years ago. She was a young chick but an extremely good cook.

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 box duncan hines strawberry supreme cake mix
32 oz fresh or frozen strawberries
1 large cool whip* or real whipped cream

Steps:

  • 1. ~Thaw completely if using frozen strawberries. ~If using fresh strawberries be sure to chop them, add a little sugar and set aside before you start the cake. This will give the berries time to melt the sugar to make them juicy.
  • 2. Bake the cake according to box directions making two 9" layers then cool completely.
  • 3. Place one cake layer into a large clear glass bowl or triffle bowl. Cover with half of the strawberries, then cover with whipped topping. Repeat with second cake layer finishing with whipped topping.
  • 4. TIP: If using frozen cool whip* be sure to thaw completely. Add in a teaspoon of vanilla and whisk until well blended. This makes it taste more homemade. I have also made this with yellow layers.
  • 5. NOTE: Throw a little flour on your face and your friends and family will think you've slaved all day!

Tips:

  • For the perfect bowl cake, use a microwave-safe bowl that is at least 6 inches in diameter and 3 inches deep.
  • Be sure to grease the bowl with butter or cooking spray before adding the cake batter. This will help the cake to come out of the bowl cleanly.
  • Do not overmix the cake batter. Overmixing can result in a tough, dense cake.
  • Microwave the cake on high power for the recommended amount of time. Overcooking can result in a dry, crumbly cake.
  • Let the cake cool for a few minutes before inverting it onto a plate. This will help to prevent the cake from breaking apart.
  • Serve the cake warm or at room temperature. Top with fresh strawberries, whipped cream, or ice cream.

Conclusion:

Strawberry bowl cake is a quick and easy dessert that is perfect for any occasion. It's made with simple ingredients that you probably already have on hand, and it can be ready in just a few minutes. The cake is moist and fluffy, with a sweet and tart strawberry flavor. It's the perfect way to satisfy your sweet tooth without feeling guilty.
