The most impressive make-ahead breakfast! So easy with 15min prep. Just pop it right in the oven before serving!

Provided by Chungah Rhee

Yield 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 (16-ounce) loaf brioche bread, cubed
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, cubed
1 pound strawberries, diced and divided
12 large eggs, beaten
2 cups whole milk
1/3 cup maple syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1 tablespoon confectioners' sugar

Steps:

  • Lightly coat a 9×13 baking dish with nonstick spray. Place a layer of bread cubes evenly into the baking dish. Top with cream cheese and half the strawberries in an even layer. Top with remaining bread cubes to completely cover the filling. In a large glass measuring cup or another bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, maple syrup, vanilla and salt. Pour mixture evenly over the bread cubes. Cover and place in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or overnight. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Remove baking dish from the refrigerator; let stand 30 minutes. Place into oven and bake, covered, for 30 minutes. Uncover; continue to bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and center is firm. Serve immediately, sprinkled with remaining strawberries and confectioners' sugar, if desired.

Tips:

  • Use fresh strawberries: Fresh strawberries have the best flavor and texture for this recipe. If you can't find fresh strawberries, you can use frozen strawberries that have been thawed and drained.
  • Slice the strawberries thinly: This will help them cook evenly in the French toast bake.
  • Use a good quality bread: A thick, sturdy bread will hold up well in the French toast bake. Look for a bread that is at least 1 inch thick.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter will make the French toast tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the French toast bake until it is golden brown: This will ensure that it is cooked through and has a slightly crunchy top.
  • Serve the French toast bake immediately: French toast bake is best served warm and fresh out of the oven. You can top it with additional powdered sugar, maple syrup, or fresh berries.

Conclusion:

Strawberries and cream French toast bake is a delicious and easy-to-make breakfast or brunch dish. It is perfect for a special occasion or a lazy weekend morning. With its sweet and creamy flavor, this French toast bake is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it.
