Tips:

  • Choose the freshest crab legs available: Fresh crab legs should have a briny smell and firm, intact shells. Avoid any crab legs that appear discolored or have a slimy texture.
  • Thaw frozen crab legs properly: If using frozen crab legs, thaw them in the refrigerator overnight or in a cold water bath for 30 minutes. Do not thaw crab legs at room temperature, as this can promote the growth of bacteria.
  • Clean the crab legs before cooking: Use a pair of kitchen shears to remove the sharp tips from the crab legs. Then, rinse the crab legs under cold water to remove any dirt or debris.
  • Season the crab legs simply: Steamed crab legs are best enjoyed with simple seasonings, such as salt, pepper, and lemon juice. You can also add other herbs and spices, such as garlic, ginger, or chili powder, to taste.
  • Steam the crab legs until they are cooked through: The crab legs are cooked through when the meat is opaque and firm. Depending on the size of the crab legs, this will typically take 5-10 minutes.
  • Serve the crab legs immediately: Steamed crab legs are best enjoyed hot and fresh out of the steamer. Serve them with melted butter, lemon wedges, and your favorite sides, such as corn on the cob, potatoes, or coleslaw.

Conclusion:

Steamed lemon grass crab legs are a delicious and easy-to-make seafood dish that is perfect for any occasion.
