PORK STEAK CASSEROLE

I recieved this reipe from my daughter several years ago and have made it often. It makes a good "gravy" to serve over rice or noodles. It is sooo tender. It can be cooked in the oven or is a good crockpot recipe.

ROUND STEAK CASSEROLE - CROCK POT RECIPE - (4/5)

Round Steak Casserole - Crock Pot Recipe - (4/5) image

Provided by lorimar80

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 pounds Round Steak
Garlic Salt, Salt & Pepper
1 Onion, thinly sliced
3-4 Potatoes, peeled & quartered
1-2 Cans French Style Green Beans
1 - 10 oz. Can of Tomato Soup
1 Pound Can Tomatoes (peeled and whole)

Steps:

  • Season Round Steak lightly with garlic salt, salt and pepper. Cut into serving size pieces and place in CROCK POT with sliced onion. Add potatoes and green beans. Top with tomato soup and tomatoes. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours. Remove cover during last half hour if too much liquid.

Tips:

  • Choose the right cut of steak: For a tender and flavorful casserole, select a cut of steak that is well-marbled, such as chuck roast, rump roast, or sirloin tip. These cuts will become tender when cooked slowly in the casserole.
  • Brown the steak before braising: Browning the steak before adding it to the casserole will help to develop its flavor and color. To brown the steak, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until browned. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
  • Use a flavorful braising liquid: The braising liquid is what will give the casserole its flavor, so it's important to use a liquid that is flavorful and aromatic. Some good options include beef broth, red wine, or a combination of both. You can also add vegetables, herbs, and spices to the braising liquid for extra flavor.
  • Cook the casserole on low heat: The casserole should be cooked on low heat for a long period of time in order to allow the steak to become tender. Cook the casserole in a preheated oven at 300 degrees Fahrenheit for 2-3 hours, or until the steak is fall-apart tender.
  • Serve the casserole with a side of mashed potatoes, rice, or vegetables: The casserole is a hearty and flavorful dish that can be served with a variety of sides. Some good options include mashed potatoes, rice, or vegetables. You can also serve the casserole with a dollop of sour cream or yogurt for extra richness.

Conclusion:

Steak casserole is a classic comfort food that is perfect for a cold winter night. It's easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. Whether you like your casserole with a thick, rich sauce or a lighter, more broth-based sauce, there's a recipe out there for you. So next time you're looking for a hearty and satisfying meal, give steak casserole a try.
