Number Of Ingredients 7

1 pound beef stew
1 small yellow onion peeled and halved
4-6 carrots peeledled and roughly chopped
4-6 potatoes peeled and cut into chunks
1 can Campbell's cream of tomato soup
salt and pepper to taste
1 large bay leaf

Steps:

  • Throw beef stew chunks, carrots, potatoes and onion into a heavy dutch oven with a lid. Open the soup and pour over meat and veggies. Do not dilute. Throw bay leaf on top of soup. Salt and pepper to taste. Don't mix or add water or other liquid. Cover. Place in a preheated 250 degree oven for 5 hours. Go take a nap and in 5 hours be prepared to eat the most delicious stew with the tastiest brown gravy you've ever had!

Tips:

  • Sear the beef in batches to prevent overcrowding the pan. This will help to brown the beef evenly and create a nice flavor base for the stew.
  • Use a heavy-bottomed pot or Dutch oven for the stew. This will help to distribute the heat evenly and prevent the stew from scorching.
  • Bring the stew to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for at least 1 hour. This will allow the flavors to meld and the beef to become tender.
  • Add vegetables to the stew in stages. This will help to prevent them from becoming overcooked.
  • Season the stew to taste with salt, pepper, and other herbs and spices.
  • Serve the stew over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.

Conclusion:

Beef stew is a classic comfort food that is perfect for a cold winter day. It is a hearty and flavorful dish that is easy to make. By following the tips above, you can make a delicious beef stew that your family and friends will love.
