Tips:

  • Choose the right squash: Butternut squash is a popular choice for mashed potatoes because of its sweet and nutty flavor. However, you can use any type of squash you like, such as pumpkin, acorn squash, or kabocha squash.
  • Roast the squash before mashing it: Roasting the squash brings out its natural sweetness and flavor. You can roast the squash whole or in cubes.
  • Use a potato ricer or food mill to get a smooth puree: A potato ricer or food mill will help you get a smooth and lump-free puree. If you don't have a potato ricer or food mill, you can use a fork or hand mixer to mash the potatoes and squash.
  • Add warm milk or cream for a creamy texture: Adding warm milk or cream will help to create a creamy and smooth texture. You can also use butter or olive oil for a richer flavor.
  • Season the mashed potatoes to taste: Season the mashed potatoes with salt, pepper, and other herbs and spices to taste. You can also add grated cheese, roasted garlic, or caramelized onions for extra flavor.
