Tips:

  • Choose the right squash: For the best results, choose a firm, ripe squash that is free of blemishes. Acorn squash and butternut squash are two popular varieties that work well in this recipe.
  • Cook the squash until it is tender: Before you can make the rolls, the squash needs to be cooked until it is tender. You can do this by baking, roasting, or steaming the squash. Roasting the squash brings out its natural sweetness and flavor.
  • Use a variety of fillings: The filling for the squash rolls can be customized to your liking. Some popular fillings include ground beef, turkey, chicken, vegetables, and cheese. You can also add herbs, spices, and seasonings to taste.
  • Roll the squash tightly: Once you have filled the squash, roll it tightly so that the filling is evenly distributed. This will help to prevent the rolls from falling apart when they are baked.
  • Bake the rolls until they are golden brown: The squash rolls should be baked until they are golden brown and heated through. This will usually take about 20-25 minutes.
