The classic lemonade-iced tea combo was named after golfer Arnold Palmer in the 1960s - it was his go-to drink. Our version has a secret ingredient: vodka!

Categories     beverage

Time 1h45m

Yield 6 drinks

Number Of Ingredients 5

8 orange pekoe tea bags
1 cup sugar
1 cup fresh lemon juice (from 6 to 8 lemons), plus lemon slices for garnish
1 1/2 cups vodka
Fresh mint, for garnish

Steps:

  • Put the tea bags in a large heatproof pitcher and pour in 5 cups boiling water. Let steep about 10 minutes. Discard the tea bags.
  • Pour half of the tea into ice cube trays and freeze until firm, 3 hours. Refrigerate the rest.
  • Make a simple syrup: Heat 1 cup water and the sugar in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring, until the sugar dissolves. Let cool.
  • Stir 1 cup of the simple syrup, the lemon juice, 5 cups cold water and the vodka into the pitcher of chilled tea. Add the tea ice cubes.
  • Pour the drink into glasses. Garnish with lemon slices and mint.

Tips:

  • Choose the right ingredients: Use fresh-squeezed lemonade and iced tea for the best flavor. You can also use store-bought lemonade and iced tea, just add some fresh lemon slices or tea bags for a more intense flavor.
  • Chill your ingredients: Make sure the lemonade and iced tea are well-chilled before assembling the Arnold Palmer recipe. This will help keep the drink cold and refreshing.
  • Use a variety of garnishes: There are many different ways to garnish an Arnold Palmer. Try adding lemon slices, orange slices, cherries, or mint leaves. You can also add a scoop of ice cream or a splash of soda water.
  • Adjust the sweetness to your taste: If you find the Arnold Palmer is too sweet, you can add more iced tea or club soda. You can also add a splash of sour mix or lime juice to balance out the sweetness.
  • Experiment with different flavors: Feel free to get creative with your Arnold Palmer recipes. Try adding different fruits, spices, or herbs. You can also use different types of tea, such as green tea or black tea.

Conclusion:

The Arnold Palmer is a classic summer drink that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. It is a versatile drink that can easily be customized to suit your taste. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a light and refreshing Arnold Palmer that is perfect for any occasion.
