SPICY TROPICAL FRUIT SALSA

Other combinations of fruits will also taste great in this colorful salsa. Try adding diced melon, such as cantaloupe, honeydew, or musk. Diced mango is delicious also, or, for a truly tropical and exotic salsa, add sliced star fruit (also known as carambola). As with any of my recipes calling for habanero's, you as chef, can substitute with any other capsicum. From "The Habanero Cookbook" by Dave DeWitt and Nancy Gerlach.

2 Tbsp freshly squeezed lime juice
1 Tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice

Tips:

  • Use ripe fruits: The riper the fruits, the sweeter and more flavorful your salsa will be.
  • Choose a variety of fruits: Don't be afraid to mix and match different fruits to create a unique and flavorful salsa. Some good combinations include mango and pineapple, papaya and kiwi, or guava and passion fruit.
  • Add some heat: If you like your salsa with a little bit of kick, add a serrano or jalapeƱo pepper. Just be sure to remove the seeds first so that the salsa isn't too spicy.
  • Balance the flavors: Be sure to taste your salsa as you make it and adjust the seasonings accordingly. You may need to add more lime juice, salt, or sugar to balance the flavors.
  • Let the salsa chill: Once you've made your salsa, let it chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving. This will allow the flavors to meld together and develop.

Conclusion:

Spicy tropical salsa is a delicious and refreshing way to add some flavor to your next meal. It's perfect for tacos, burritos, fish, or chicken. And it's also a great way to use up any leftover fruit. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy snack or appetizer, give this spicy tropical salsa a try. You won't be disappointed!
