Tips:

  • Choose the right cut of beef: Chuck roast or brisket are good choices for this recipe, as they are both relatively tough cuts of meat that will benefit from the long cooking time.
  • Brown the beef before cooking: This will help to develop flavor and prevent the beef from becoming dry.
  • Use a flavorful cooking liquid: Beef broth, chicken broth, or even water can be used, but adding in some herbs, spices, or vegetables will help to infuse the beef with flavor.
  • Cook the beef until it is fall-apart tender: This will take at least 2 hours, but it is worth the wait.
  • Shred the beef against the grain: This will help to make the beef more tender and easier to eat.
  • Make the sandwiches to your liking: Add your favorite toppings, such as cheese, lettuce, tomato, or onion.
