SPICY QUESADILLA

Very, Very good, if you can find the sundried tomato tortillas, they add a wonderful taste, as compared to the plain ones. We pass the salsa also, with the sour cream. More heat can be added if desired and the recipe can be scaled down to one or two.

SPICY STEAK QUESADILLA

Categories     appetizer

Time 25m

Yield 4 to 8 hors d'oeuvre servings

Number Of Ingredients 7

4 (12-inch) flour tortillas
1/2 cup grated Cheddar, plus 1/4 cup
8 ounces sirloin steak, grilled to desired doneness and thinly sliced
1 to 2 tablespoons minced jalapeno
1/4 cup salsa, plus more for serving
Vegetable oil, for cooking
Cilantro sprigs, for garnish

Steps:

  • Lay out 2 of the flour tortillas on a flat surface. Top with 1/2 cup of the Cheddar, spreading evenly over the tortillas. Divide the steak among the tortillas and sprinkle with the desired amount of jalapeno. Top with salsa and remaining 1/4 cup cheese. Top with remaining tortillas and press to seal.
  • Heat a large saute pan over high heat. Add enough oil to coat the bottom of the pan and lower the heat to medium. Cook until golden brown on both sides, about 3 minutes per side. Repeat with the other quesadilla.
  • Let cool for 5 minutes. Slice into 8 or 10 pieces. Garnish with salsa and cilantro sprigs.

Tips:

  • Choose the right tortillas. Corn or flour tortillas can be used for quesadillas, but corn tortillas are generally preferred because they are sturdier and less likely to break when folded.
  • Use fresh ingredients. The fresher the ingredients, the better your quesadilla will taste. Whenever possible, use organic and locally-sourced ingredients.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan. When cooking quesadillas, it's important to not overcrowd the pan. This will prevent them from cooking evenly and becoming soggy.
  • Cook quesadillas over medium heat. Medium heat is the best temperature for cooking quesadillas. This will help to prevent them from burning and allow them to cook through evenly.
  • Serve quesadillas immediately. Quesadillas are best served immediately after they are cooked. This will ensure that they are crispy and hot.

Conclusion:

Quesadillas are a delicious and versatile dish that can be made with a variety of ingredients. They are perfect for a quick and easy meal or snack. With a little creativity, you can create endless variations of quesadillas that will please everyone at your table. So next time you're looking for a tasty and satisfying meal, give quesadillas a try.
