Yield Makes 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 6

3 russet potatoes (about 1 1/2 pounds), unpeeled, each cut lengthwise into 8 wedges
1/4 cup olive oil
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8-1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Kosher salt, freshly ground pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450°F. Toss potato wedges, oil, paprika, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper on a foil-lined large rimmed baking sheet to evenly coat; season potatoes with salt and pepper.
  • Roast, turning once, until wedges are golden brown and crisp, 25-30 minutes.

Tips:

  • Choose the right potatoes: For the best results, use a potato variety that is firm and holds its shape well when roasted, such as Yukon Gold, Russet, or Red potatoes.
  • Cut the potatoes evenly: This will help them cook evenly and prevent some pieces from being overcooked while others are still undercooked.
  • Toss the potatoes with oil and seasonings: This will help them get crispy and flavorful. You can use any type of oil you like, but olive oil or avocado oil are good choices.
  • Roast the potatoes at a high temperature: This will help them get crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The ideal roasting temperature is between 425°F and 450°F.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: If you overcrowd the pan, the potatoes will not cook evenly. Make sure to spread the potatoes out in a single layer on the baking sheet.
  • Roast the potatoes until they are tender and browned: The cooking time will vary depending on the size of the potatoes and how crispy you want them to be. To test if the potatoes are done, pierce them with a fork. They should be tender all the way through.

Conclusion:

These spicy oven-roasted potatoes are a delicious and easy side dish that can be enjoyed with a variety of meals. The potatoes are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and the spicy seasoning gives them a nice kick. Whether you are serving them for a weeknight dinner or a special occasion, these potatoes are sure to be a hit.
