Tips:

  • Use old-fashioned oats: Old-fashioned oats provide a chewy texture and a nutty flavor to the cookies. If you only have quick-cooking oats, you can use them, but your cookies will be less chewy.
  • Toast the oats: Toasting the oats enhances their flavor and gives the cookies a more complex taste. You can toast the oats in a dry skillet over medium heat for 5-7 minutes, or you can toast them in a preheated oven at 350°F for 10-12 minutes.
  • Use a combination of spices: The combination of cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger gives these cookies a warm and spicy flavor. You can adjust the amount of each spice to your liking.
  • Don't overmix the dough: Overmixing the dough will make the cookies tough. Mix the dough just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Chill the dough: Chilling the dough for at least 30 minutes helps the flavors to develop and makes the dough easier to handle.
  • Use a cookie scoop: A cookie scoop helps to ensure that the cookies are all the same size and shape. This will help them bake evenly.
  • Bake the cookies at a high temperature: Baking the cookies at a high temperature helps them to spread and gives them a crispy edge.

Conclusion:

These spicy oatmeal raisin cookies are a delicious and easy-to-make treat. They're perfect for a snack or dessert, and they're also a great way to use up leftover oatmeal. With their chewy texture, warm spices, and sweet raisins, these cookies are sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them.
