SPICY LIME DIPPING SAUCE

Categories     Food & Cooking     Healthy Recipes     Gluten-Free Recipes

Yield Makes 3/4 cup

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/2 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
2 tablespoons water
2 teaspoons honey
1/2 teaspoon coarse salt
2 tablespoons thinly sliced scallion
2 teaspoons thinly sliced serrano chile
1 small garlic clove, minced

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, mix together all ingredients. Let stand at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to blend.

Tips:

  • To achieve the best flavor, use fresh limes. If you only have bottled lime juice, add a bit more zest to compensate for the lack of fresh lime flavor.
  • Adjust the amount of serrano pepper to your preferred spice level. Remove the seeds and ribs of the pepper to reduce the heat.
  • If you don't have fish sauce, you can substitute soy sauce or tamari. However, fish sauce adds a unique savory flavor to the sauce, so if you can find it, it's worth using.
  • Feel free to add other ingredients to the sauce to taste. Some popular additions include chopped cilantro, garlic, or ginger.
  • The sauce can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Just be sure to bring it to room temperature before serving.

Conclusion:

This spicy lime dipping sauce is a delicious and versatile condiment that can be used to add flavor to a variety of dishes. It's perfect for spring rolls, summer rolls, grilled meats, or seafood. The sauce is also great as a marinade or dressing. So next time you're looking for a way to add some extra flavor to your meal, give this spicy lime dipping sauce a try. You won't be disappointed!
