Time 25m

Yield 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 14

1 (16-ounce) bag frozen French-cut green beans, thawed
1 head frisee
1/2 cup roasted peanuts
1 jalapeno, seeded, chopped into 1/2-inch pieces
2 tablespoons jarred chopped garlic
1 tablespoon jarred sliced ginger
1/2 bunch scallions, sliced
1 tablespoon dark sesame oil
1/2 (4.25-ounce) can cream of coconut (recommended: Coco Lopez)
1 (18-ounce) jar creamy peanut butter
1/2 cup hot water
1/2 (8.5-ounce) jar hoisin sauce
4 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro leaves

Steps:

  • Thaw green beans in a colander and pat dry to remove excess water. Clean frisee and cut into bite sized pieces and set aside.
  • In a food processor, add the jalapeno, garlic, ginger and scallions. Process and add the sesame oil to form a paste. Transfer paste to a large bowl and whisk in cream of coconut. Whisk in peanut butter; gradually whisk in water until consistency is a smooth, thick sauce. Whisk in hoisin, soy sauce and cilantro. This recipe will make more dressing than you need for the salad; reserve extra dressing in an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for other uses.
  • Toss green beans and frisee and with enough dressing to coat. Garnish with roasted peanuts. Serve immediately.

Tips:

  • Use fresh ingredients whenever possible. Fresh herbs, vegetables, and fruits will give your dressing the best flavor.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment. There are many different ways to make a spicy French dressing, so feel free to adjust the ingredients to suit your own taste.
  • Start with a small amount of Dijon mustard and add more to taste. Dijon mustard can be quite spicy, so it's best to start with a small amount and add more as needed.
  • If you don't have any shallots, you can use a small onion instead. Just be sure to chop it very finely.
  • If you don't have any white wine vinegar, you can use red wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar instead.
  • Let the dressing sit for at least 30 minutes before using. This will allow the flavors to meld together.
  • Store the dressing in a jar or container with a tight-fitting lid. It will keep in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Conclusion:

Spicy French dressing is a versatile condiment that can be used on a variety of salads, vegetables, and meats. It's also a great way to add a little extra flavor to sandwiches and wraps. With its bright, tangy flavor and just the right amount of heat, this dressing is sure to become a favorite in your kitchen.
