COWBOY STEW
I made up this dish back in the early 1970s when I was down to very little food in the house. Since it's combination of barbecue sauce, hamburger, hot dogs and beans, this one-skillet meal makes both children and adults happy.

TEXAS COWBOY STEW
Hearty, filling and man-pleasing describes this stew. Link sausage, cumin, chilies, and chili powder is what gives this soup its Southwest flavor. This dish is quick, easy, and tastes best when it simmers in a slow cooker or even on the stove all day. Bake some Mexican cornbread, toss a simple green salad, and you have a great meal.

RANCH STEW AKA COWBOY STEW
This is one of my family favorites that I have made for years. It is super easy to throw together and contains ingredients that I always have on hand. When I make this I have to double the recipe because it tastes even better the next day! Ranch Style beans are a western style pinto bean made with a flavorful sauce. They add a lot of the flavor to this recipe so try not to substitute them if possible.

Steps:
- 1. Cook and drain hamburger meat.
- 2. In a large soup pot , add Spicy V8, then all vegetables. You can vary or add any vegetables to this. Add salt and pepper to taste.
- 3. Add water so that it can reduce. I use anywhere from 1-2 cups of water. It can take as little as an hour to cook depending on how much you want it reduced and your vegetables cooked.
Tips:
- Choose high-quality beef: Opt for chuck roast or stew meat with good marbling for a flavorful and tender stew.
- Brown the beef thoroughly: This step helps develop rich flavors and caramelization, adding depth to the stew.
- Use a variety of vegetables: Incorporate a mix of vegetables like carrots, potatoes, celery, and onions for a colorful and nutritious stew.
- Select the right spices: The key to a spicy cowboy stew is the blend of spices. Use chili powder, cumin, paprika, and cayenne pepper for a well-balanced heat.
- Add some heat: If you enjoy a spicier stew, consider adding diced jalapeños or serrano peppers along with the spices.
- Simmer for tenderness: Allow the stew to simmer for at least 1-2 hours, or until the beef is fall-apart tender and the vegetables are cooked through.
- Garnish and serve: Enhance the presentation by garnishing with fresh cilantro, chopped green onions, or a dollop of sour cream before serving.
