1 small onion, chopped
2 (28 ounce) cans baked beans
½ cup ketchup

1 large onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, chopped
1 tablespoon ground chili powder
1 tablespoon Neely's Dry Rub Seasoning
1 pound dried small white navy beans, rinsed and picked over
8 cups water
1 cup dark beer
1 cup Neely's Barbecue Sauce
1/4 cup dark brown sugar
1/4 cup mild molasses
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons soy sauce
Dash hot sauce
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
  • Cook the bacon in a large Dutch oven over medium heat until most of the fat is rendered. Add the onion and garlic and saute until soft. Stir in the chili powder. Add the dry rub, beans, water, beer, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, molasses, Worcestershire, soy sauce, hot sauce, and salt and pepper, to taste. Cover the pot with a lid and bring to a low simmer.   • Uncover and remove the green beans. Set them aside to keep warm. Put the tofu back into the oven, uncovered, until the sauce is bubbly and has reduced, another 10 minutes.

1 lb dried navy beans, soaked overnight or quick soaked and drained
1 cup diced onion (1 small)
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1/3-2/3 cup molasses
1/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
3 tablespoons minced jalapenos (about 1)
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper
5 cups water, divided
1 teaspoon salt, added after cooking

I originally got this recipe from Eating Well magazine. It was a baked beans and sausage dish. We were making bbq chicken on the grill, so I figured why not try it without the sausage. My bf said it was way better than the original recipe, so I thought I should post it. Feel free to experiment with the beans. I have made it with white kidneys beans and it is still yummy. If you are watching your weight this is a great, easy to prepare side dish for the summer months! Note: Make sure to rinse the beans it will cut down the sodium in this dish, so don't be afraid of the nutrition facts. I don't think recipezaar takes into account rinsing the beans when it figures the nutrition information.

3 cups bottled barbecue sauce

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 large onion
3 garlic cloves, crushed
2 teaspoons ground cumin

1 large courgette, cubed
1 green pepper, cubed
310 g corn kernels
2 (400 g) cans red kidney beans, rinsed and drained

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 210 degrees (gas 6-7).
  • Rinse the sweet potatoes, then pierce with a small sharp knife. Place them on a baking.
  • tray and bake for 1-1½ hours, or until soft.
  • Heat the oil in a large saucepan and cook the onion over a medium heat for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until very soft and golden. Add garlic and spices, and cook, stirring, for 1 minute.

1 tablespoon cumin seeds
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 large onion, chopped
1 carrot, chopped
1/2 pound smoked duck breast, in 1/2-by-1-inch nuggets
1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and chopped
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1/2 cup crushed canned tomatoes
4 ripe plum tomatoes, diced
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup light brown sugar
1 bay leaf
Grated rind of 1 orange
1/2 tablespoon crushed black peppercorns
1/3 cup chopped fresh coriander leaves
1/4 cup cider vinegar, or more, to taste
Salt to taste.

Steps:

  • 1. Place all beans in a bowl, cover with water to a depth of 2 inches, add thyme and soak at least 4 hours. 2. Heat a heavy 3-quart casserole. Add cumin seeds, and cook, stirring, until they dance around and smell toasty. Remove them. 3. Add the oil, onion, carrot and bacon to casserole, and saute over medium heat 10 minutes, until the bacon is golden. Stir in the jalapeno, garlic and toasted cumin seeds. 4. Steps:

  • In a fireproof Dutch oven or heavy saucepan over medium low heat, warm the vegetable oil and cook the onion, stirring occasionally, until soft, 8 to 10 minutes. Add the ham and garlic and cook for 2 minutes more, stirring occasionally. Add the maple syrup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, cayenne, and pork and beans. Bring to a boil over high heat.Remove from the stove and place on the grill over Indirect Medium heat. Cook, uncovered for about 45 minutes, stirring once or twice.
