This is without a doubt the best ever Apple Crisp I have ever eaten. Perfectly spiced apples covered in a buttery cinnamon oatmeal crunch topping. Serve it warm, finished off with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

2 Tablespoons flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
7-8 cups apples, peeled, cored and sliced (I prefer Granny Smith Apples) about 10.
2 cups oatmeal
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
2 cups brown sugar
1 1/3 cup butter, cold and sliced

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease or spray with non-stick spray a 9x13 baking dish.
  • In a bowl combine all topping ingredients and work with your fingertips until mixture is crumbly.
  • In another small bowl, mix together flour, sugar cinnamon and salt for apples, set aside.
  • Peel, core and slice your apples, coat with flour/sugar mixture.
  • Place loosely in the bottom of your baking dish.
  • Add topping.
  • Bake at 30-40 minutes or until brown on top.
  • Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.

6 granny smith apples
6 any sweet apple you would like to use. i use golden delicious
2 c raisins
1/2 stick butter cut into small chunks
1/2 c brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
TOPPING
1 spice cake mix
3 c oatmeal
1 c crushed walnuts
1/2 c honey
1 stick butter
10 caramels cut in half (optional)

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2. Peel and slice apples so that the slices are close to the same size. Add raisins and the brown sugar and the cinnamon and toss.
  • 3. Pour apples and raisins into a 9x12 pan. Take the pieces of butter and place on top of the apples.
  • 4. Mix together the spice cake and the oatmeal and the crushed walnuts.
  • 5. Melt the butter in the microwave and add the butter and honey to the oatmeal mixture. Sprinkle over the apples, then place caramels on topping. Bake for 45 minutes until apples are cooked and the top is crisp.
