SPAM & FRENCH FRIES MEATLOAF

Spam & French Fries Meatloaf image

Delicious but unusual meatloaf developed by me in my own kitchen. The majority of my friends and family love it, but there are a few haters, so be warned that this is not a meal for unadventurous eaters.

Categories     One Dish Meal

Time 1h20m

Yield 1 meatloaf, 4-5 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 1/2 lbs finely diced Spam
1/2 cup cooked chopped French fries
1 egg
1 small sweet onion
1 teaspoon table salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
4 tablespoons barbecue sauce
1/2 cup half-and-half

Steps:

  • Don't put the Spam in a blender or a food processor. We don't want paste. Use leftover fries or leftover hashbrowns. Do not use mashed potatoes as they impart a mushy texture.
  • Fry the Spam until it is dry and slightly crunchy, draining oil as necessary.
  • Combine all ingredients and pat into a 9-inch aluminum pie pan.
  • Bake at 350°F for 1 hour until done.
  • Sprinkling this with your favorite cheese in the last 5 minutes of baking is a pleasant addition.

AIR FRYER SPAM® FRIES WITH SPICY DIPPING SAUCE

Air Fryer SPAM® Fries with Spicy Dipping Sauce image

SPAM® is not something I eat often but when I do, I like it extra crispy. I found a can in the pantry and decided to give it a go in the air fryer. The outside was far crispier than you get in a skillet on the stovetop and the inside stayed nice and tender.

Tips:

  • Mise en place: Before you start cooking, make sure you have all the ingredients and tools you need. This will help you stay organized and avoid scrambling.
  • Choose the right Spam: Look for Spam that is firm and has a pink color. Avoid Spam that is soft or has a gray color.
  • Cook the Spam properly: Spam can be cooked in a variety of ways. You can fry it, bake it, or grill it. Just make sure that it is cooked all the way through.
  • Use a good quality ground beef: The quality of the ground beef will affect the flavor of your meatloaf. Look for ground beef that is fresh and has a good fat content.
  • Season the meatloaf well: Don't be afraid to season your meatloaf liberally. Use a variety of spices and herbs to create a flavorful dish.
  • Don't overmix the meatloaf mixture: Overmixing the meatloaf mixture can make it tough. Mix it just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the meatloaf in a preheated oven: This will help to ensure that the meatloaf cooks evenly.
  • Let the meatloaf rest before slicing: This will help to keep the meatloaf moist and juicy.

Conclusion:

Spam French fries meatloaf is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. It is a great way to use up leftover Spam and french fries. The meatloaf is moist and flavorful, and the french fries add a crispy texture. This dish is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
