HONEY-SOY GLAZED PORK CHOPS

Honey-Soy Glazed Pork Chops image

I found this recipe on another website, however I do not remember which one. This is quick and easy to prepare. The sauce is delicious served over rice. Do not cook the sauce too long as the soy sauce can become very intense. I usually double the sauce mixture and garlic but that is just my preference.

Time 25m

Yield 2-4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

4 boneless pork chops, 3/4 inch thick (approx. 4 ounces each)
1/4 teaspoon fresh coarse ground black pepper
3 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons soy sauce (I prefer low sodium)
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
1 garlic clove, minced
2 green onions, sliced for garnish (optional)

Steps:

  • Sprinkle 1 side of each pork chop with black pepper.
  • Heat nonstick skillet over medium high heat until hot.
  • Add pork chops, pepper side down, and cook approximately.
  • 4 minutes or until browned.
  • Reduce heat to medium, turn pork chops and cook 6 to 8 minutes longer or until they just lose their pink color.
  • Transfer pork chops to platter, cover to keep warm.
  • While pork chops are cooking, in a cup or small bowl, mix honey, soy sauce, balsamic vinegar and cornstarch until smooth.
  • After removing pork chops, add garlic to skillet, cook 30 seconds, stirring (no longer so it does not burn).
  • Stir honey mixture into skillet (mixture will boil) and cook 1 to 2 minutes, stirring.
  • The longer the sauce mixture cooks, the soy sauce flavor becomes stronger.
  • Spoon sauce over pork chops.
  • Sprinkle with green onions for garnish, if desired.

Yield 4 4

Number Of Ingredients 9

4 6 ounces center cut pork chops
3 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons soy sauce
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 tablespoon grated ginger
1 teaspoon sambal (chili paste, optional)
Equal parts of: pepper, paprika, ground clove and cinnamon spices
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon oil for cooking

Steps:

  • Use paper towel to pat dry the pork. Mix all the other ingredients in a small bowl, except the oil for cooking. Place the pork chops in the bowl, cover them with the marinate and let it marinate at least 30 minutes, up to 12 hours' time permitting in the refrigerator. Preheat the oven to 375°. Use paper towel to pat the pork of any excess marinade. Heat the oil in a large ovenproof skillet over high heat, add the pork chops and reduce the heat to medium-high. Seat the pork on both sides, 2 minutes each side, and then baste them with the marinade. Place the pan in the oven. Cook for about 10 minutes, turning once and basting generously with marinade. Remove from the oven and tent the pork in aluminum foil until ready to serve.

Tips:

- To ensure the pork chops are cooked evenly, use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. The chops should reach an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit (63 degrees Celsius). - If you don't have a meat thermometer, you can check the doneness of the pork chops by cutting into them. The chops should be cooked through, with no trace of pink in the center. - To make a thicker, more flavorful sauce, reduce the soy sauce mixture in a saucepan over medium heat until it has thickened. This will take about 5 minutes. - Serve the soy-glazed pork chops with your favorite sides. Some popular options include mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, and steamed rice.

Conclusion:

This recipe for soy-glazed pork chops is a delicious and easy way to prepare this versatile meat. The pork chops are marinated in a flavorful soy sauce mixture, then cooked until tender and juicy. The resulting dish is packed with flavor and is sure to be a hit with your family and friends. Whether you're looking for a quick and easy weeknight meal or a special occasion entree, this recipe is sure to please.
