Tips:

  • Choose your sausage wisely: Use a good quality breakfast sausage with a flavor that you enjoy. Look for a sausage that is made with fresh, high-quality meat and has a nice balance of spices.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: When browning the sausage, make sure to give it plenty of room in the pan so that it can brown evenly. If you overcrowd the pan, the sausage will steam instead of brown.
  • Use a variety of vegetables: Feel free to mix and match your favorite vegetables in this recipe. Some good options include bell peppers, onions, zucchini, and corn. You could also add some chopped greens, such as kale or spinach, for an extra boost of nutrition.
  • Be careful not to overcook the vegetables: The vegetables should be cooked through but still have a little bit of crunch to them. If you overcook them, they will become mushy and lose their flavor.
  • Use a good quality cheese: The cheese is one of the most important ingredients in this dish, so make sure to use a good quality cheese that you enjoy. A sharp cheddar cheese or a Mexican blend are both good options.
  • Serve immediately: This dish is best served immediately after it is cooked. The biscuits will be light and fluffy, and the cheese will be melted and gooey. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Conclusion:

This Southwest Sausage Bake is a delicious and easy-to-make casserole that is perfect for a weeknight meal. It is packed with flavor, thanks to the combination of sausage, vegetables, and cheese. The biscuits on top add a touch of lightness and flakiness. This dish is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
