SOUTHERN SPOON BREAD
When we were in Gettysburg PA last summer, we had the most wonderful spoon bread at the Farnsworth House Restaurant. I haven't tried this recipe yet, but I'm hoping it's just as good! This comes from Lean and Luscious and Meatless.

Tips:
- Use Fresh Cornmeal: Fresh cornmeal is essential for making spoon bread that is light and fluffy. If you don't have fresh cornmeal, you can use store-bought cornmeal, but be sure to choose a brand that is made from stone-ground corn.
- Don't Overmix the Batter: Overmixing the batter will make the spoon bread tough. Mix the ingredients just until they are combined.
- Let the Batter Rest: Allowing the batter to rest for 10-15 minutes before baking will help it to develop a better flavor and texture.
- Bake the Spoon Bread in a Hot Oven: Baking the spoon bread in a hot oven will help it to rise quickly and develop a golden brown crust.
- Serve the Spoon Bread Warm: Spoon bread is best served warm. You can reheat it in the oven or microwave if you need to.
Conclusion:
Spoon bread is a delicious and versatile Southern dish that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It is easy to make and can be customized to your own taste. Whether you like it plain or with add-ins like cheese, bacon, or vegetables, spoon bread is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
