Tips:

  • Use quality ingredients: Fresh, flavorful ingredients will make a big difference in the final dish. Look for high-quality beef, fresh vegetables, and flavorful spices.
  • Brown the beef well: Browning the beef adds flavor and color to the stew. Be sure to brown the beef in batches so that it doesn't crowd the pan and steam instead of browning.
  • Use a variety of vegetables: This will give the stew a more complex flavor and texture. Some good options include potatoes, carrots, celery, onions, and bell peppers.
  • Add spices and seasonings to taste: The spices and seasonings you use will depend on your personal preferences. Some good options include chili powder, cumin, oregano, garlic powder, and salt and pepper.
  • Simmer the stew for at least 1 hour: This will allow the flavors to meld and the beef to become tender. You can simmer the stew for longer if you want a more flavorful and tender stew.
  • Serve the stew with your favorite sides: Some good options include rice, mashed potatoes, or tortillas.

South of the Border Beef Stew is a flavorful, hearty, and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal.
