Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

16 ounces pizza dough, ball (1 pound)
1/2 cup pizza sauce
4 fresh garlic cloves, peeled and finely chopped
1 1/2 cups queso fresco, crumbled
1/2 cup chorizo sausage, cooked and crumbled
4 green onions, chopped
1 large red chili, thinly sliced
1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 500 degrees.
  • Roll the pizza dough on a floured surface and place on a cookie sheet.
  • Spread the pizza sauce over top. Cover with a sprinkling of garlic, then a 1/2 cup of queso fresco. Top with chorizo and green onion, then cover with the remaining cheese and chili slices. Cook until the crust is golden brown (10 to 12 minutes). Garnish with cilantro.
  • Note: I prefer my crust prebaked for a crispier crumb. May need to reduce final cook time.

Time 1h

Yield 6-8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 (8 ounce) packages Pillsbury Refrigerated Crescent Dinner Rolls
1 lb ground beef
1 onion, diced
1 (1 1/2 ounce) package taco seasoning
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 cup chili sauce
salt and pepper
8 ounces refried beans, my preference is bean dip
4 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded
4 ounces parmesan cheese, grated

Steps:

  • Sauté beef and onion.
  • Add chili sauce, chili powder, taco seasoning and salt and pepper to taste.
  • Add refried beans or bean dip.
  • Open crescent rolls and lay flat on shallow baking pan or cookie sheet with one-inch side; forming a pizza shell.
  • Spread cooked beef onto pizza shell. Top with cheeses.
  • Bake at 350° for 1/2 hour or until pizza crust is golden brown.

Tips:

  • Use a variety of toppings: The great thing about South American pizza is that there are no limits to what you can put on it. From traditional toppings like cheese and pepperoni to more unique options like corn and black beans, the possibilities are endless. Get creative and experiment with different flavors and textures to find your perfect combination.
  • Don't be afraid to use bold flavors: South American cuisine is known for its bold and flavorful dishes, and this is reflected in their pizzas as well. Don't be afraid to use spices, herbs, and other flavorful ingredients to give your pizza a unique and memorable taste.
  • Make your own dough: While you can certainly use store-bought pizza dough, making your own dough is a great way to take your pizza to the next level. There are many different recipes for South American pizza dough, so find one that you like and give it a try. You won't regret it!
  • Cook your pizza at a high temperature: South American pizzas are typically cooked at a very high temperature, which gives them their characteristic crispy crust. If you're cooking your pizza at home, make sure to preheat your oven to the highest temperature it can go before you put the pizza in.

Conclusion:

South American pizza is a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. With its variety of toppings, bold flavors, and crispy crust, it's a great option for a quick and easy meal or a fun party food.
