SOUR CREAM RHUBARB PIE

SOUR CREAM RHUBARB PIE image

Categories     Dessert     Sour Cream

Yield 1 pie

Number Of Ingredients 7

4 cups Rhubarb
1/3 cup flour
1 1/2 sugar
1 cup sour cream
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup flour

Steps:

  • Mix 1/3 cup flour and sugar stir in sour cream Combine 1/4 cup butter, 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup flour - mix until crumbly. Pour in pie crust and bake at 450 for 15 minutes, then lower to 350 for another 30 minutes or until set

Tips for Making Sour Cream Rhubarb Pie:

  • To ensure a flaky crust, use cold butter and work it quickly into the flour mixture. Avoid over-mixing, as this can result in a tough crust.
  • Use fresh rhubarb for the best flavor. If using frozen rhubarb, thaw and drain it thoroughly before using.
  • To prevent the pie filling from becoming too runny, use a combination of granulated sugar and cornstarch. The cornstarch will help to thicken the filling as it bakes.
  • Don't overfill the pie crust. Leave about 1/2 inch of space around the edges for the filling to bubble up.
  • To prevent the pie crust from burning, cover the edges with foil or a pie crust shield during baking.
  • Let the pie cool completely before serving. This will allow the filling to set and the flavors to develop.

Conclusion:

Sour cream rhubarb pie is a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that is perfect for any occasion. With its flaky crust, tangy filling, and creamy topping, this pie is sure to be a hit with everyone at the table. So next time you're looking for a special treat, give sour cream rhubarb pie a try.
