Time 15m

Number Of Ingredients 12

12 oz pkg. thawed cut green beans
1 small onion, minced
1 Tbsp parsley flakes
1 Tbsp all purpose flour
1/4 c pear liquid
1 Tbsp butter
4 medium canned pear halves, diced
1/4 c dairy sour cream
1/2 tsp granulated sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp vinegar
1/4 c bacon, cooked crisp and diced

Steps:

  • 1. Sauté onion and parsley in butter. Stir in flour and pear liquid(liquid the pears were in ). Cook until thick. In a small bowl combine remaining ingredients (except beans)and add to the onion mixture. Pour this mixture over the hot drained beans and sprinkle bacon pieces over and serve.

Tips:

  • For the best flavor, use fresh green beans. If using frozen green beans, thaw them completely before cooking.
  • To blanch the green beans, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the green beans and cook for 3-4 minutes, or until they are bright green and tender-crisp. Drain the green beans and immediately transfer them to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process.
  • To make the sour cream sauce, whisk together the sour cream, mayonnaise, lemon juice, sugar, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl. Taste and adjust seasonings as desired.
  • To assemble the salad, combine the blanched green beans, red onion, and almonds in a large bowl. Pour the sour cream sauce over the salad and toss to coat. Serve immediately.
  • For a vegetarian or vegan version of this salad, omit the bacon. You can also use a plant-based sour cream or yogurt in place of the regular sour cream.

Conclusion:

This classic sour cream green bean salad is a delicious and easy side dish that is perfect for any occasion. The bright and tangy flavors of the sour cream sauce perfectly complement the tender-crisp green beans. This salad is also very versatile and can be easily customized to your own tastes. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy side dish, give this sour cream green bean salad a try!
