Tips:

  • Use fresh sour cherries: Fresh sour cherries are the best option for this cocktail, as they have a strong, tart flavor. If you can't find fresh sour cherries, you can use frozen or canned sour cherries, but the flavor will not be as good.
  • Make your own sour cherry simple syrup: Sour cherry simple syrup is easy to make and adds a delicious flavor to the cocktail. To make it, simply combine equal parts sour cherries and sugar in a saucepan and heat over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool completely.
  • Use a good quality bourbon: The bourbon is the base of this cocktail, so it's important to use a good quality bourbon that you enjoy. Look for a bourbon that is at least 80 proof and has a smooth, mellow flavor.
  • Garnish with a sour cherry: A sour cherry is the perfect garnish for this cocktail. It adds a touch of sweetness and tartness, and it looks beautiful in the glass.

Conclusion:

The sour cherry old fashioned is a delicious and refreshing cocktail that is perfect for any occasion. It's easy to make and can be customized to your own taste. So next time you're looking for a classic cocktail with a twist, give the sour cherry old fashioned a try.
