Tips:
- Use fresh ingredients: Fresh vegetables, herbs, and noodles will give your somen salad the best flavor.
- Don't overcook the noodles: Somen noodles should be cooked al dente, so they retain a slight chewiness.
- Rinse the noodles well: After cooking, rinse the somen noodles in cold water to remove any excess starch.
- Use a variety of toppings: The great thing about somen salad is that you can use a variety of toppings to create different flavor combinations. Some popular toppings include sliced cucumber, carrot, radish, avocado, edamame, and grilled chicken or tofu.
- Make a flavorful dressing: The dressing is what really brings a somen salad together. You can use a simple vinaigrette, or get creative and make a more flavorful dressing using ingredients like sesame oil, rice vinegar, or miso paste.
- Serve chilled: Somen salad is best served chilled. This makes it a refreshing and light meal, perfect for hot summer days.
