Number Of Ingredients 9

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter, room temperature
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1 teaspoon kosher salt
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

Reduce speed to low and gradually add flour mixture, mixing until just combined. Mix in chocolate chips.

Tips:

  • Use fresh oranges and lemons for the best flavor.
  • Grate the orange and lemon zest finely so that it evenly distributes throughout the cookies.
  • Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. This will help the cookies be chewy and soft.
  • Do not overmix the dough. Overmixing will make the cookies tough.
  • Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking. This will help the cookies hold their shape and prevent them from spreading too much.
  • Bake the cookies until the edges are golden brown and the centers are set. Overbaking will make the cookies dry and crumbly.
  • Let the cookies cool on a wire rack before serving. This will help them firm up and prevent them from breaking.
