So-Simple S'mores Bars image

I got this recipe off the back of a Eagle Brand label years ago. You must use the Sweetened Condensed Milk, NOT the evaporated milk. Perfect for tailgating, goes over great with children and adults!

NO-BAKE S'MORES BARS

No-Bake S'mores Bars image

Categories     dessert

Time 1h15m

Yield 18 bars

Number Of Ingredients 8

Nonstick cooking spray, for the pan
4 tablespoons salted butter
One 10-ounce bag mini marshmallows
One 12-ounce bag semisweet chocolate chips
Pinch of kosher salt
9 graham crackers, broken into pieces
1/4 cup mini chocolate-coated candies
2 tablespoons rainbow sprinkles

Steps:

  • Line a 9-inch square baking pan with waxed paper, overlapping all 4 sides. Spray with cooking spray.
  • Place a nonstick pan over low heat and add the butter. When melted, add two-thirds of the marshmallows and cook, stirring, until the marshmallows have melted and combined with the butter, about 3 minutes. Next, fold in the chocolate chips and stir until they are melted too. Add the salt and half of the broken graham crackers and stir so the cracker pieces are incorporated into the chocolate marshmallow mixture but not broken up too much.
  • Tip the mixture into the prepared pan and press it into the pan with a wooden spoon. Sprinkle over the remaining graham crackers and marshmallows, pressing them down with your hands so they set into the base. Next, add the coated candies and sprinkles and press them down.
  • Allow to set for 1 hour before removing from the pan and cutting into bars. Or you can chill for 10 minutes and slice if you're in a hurry!

S'MORES BARS RECIPE

Yield 9

Number Of Ingredients 11

1/2 cup butter (softened to room temp)
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/3 cups flour
3/4 cup graham cracker crumbs
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 (2.6 ounce) king-sized Hershey milk chocolate bars
1 (7 ounce) container marshmallow creme

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease an 8-inch square baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, cream together butter, brown sugar, and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in egg and vanilla.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together flour, graham cracker crumbs, baking powder and salt.
  • Add to butter mixture and mix at a low speed until combined.
  • Divide dough in half and press half of dough into an even layer on the bottom of the prepared pan. We found it works best to use our fingers.
  • Place chocolate bars over dough (3 king-sized Hershey bars should fit perfectly side by side, but break the chocolate if necessary to get it to fit in a single layer no more than 1/4 inch thick).
  • Spread marshmallow creme over chocolate layer.
  • Place remaining dough in a single layer on top of the marshmallow (most easily achieved by flattening the dough into small, flat shingles and laying them together).
  • Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until a light golden brown.
  • Cool completely before cutting into bars.

Tips:

  • Use graham cracker crumbs that are finely crushed for a smooth texture.
  • For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  • If you don't have a microwave, you can also melt the butter and chocolate in a saucepan over low heat.
  • Be careful not to overcook the marshmallows, as they can easily burn.
  • For a gooey center, remove the bars from the oven just before the marshmallows are completely browned.
  • Let the bars cool completely before cutting them into squares.

Conclusion:

These smores bars are an easy and delicious treat that are perfect for any occasion. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a dessert that everyone will love. Whether you're a fan of classic smores or you're looking for a new way to enjoy this campfire treat, these bars are sure to hit the spot.
