COFFEE CAKE:
1 c flour
1 c sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 c milk
1/4 c butter
1 egg
TOPPING:
3/4 c sugar
1 Tbsp cinnamon

Steps:

  • 1. Mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, milk, margarine and egg. Pour into a greased and floured 9 inch square pan.
  • 2. Mix topping sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle top of coffee cake heavily with this mixture. This gives a crusty snickerdoodle top. Bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: The better the ingredients, the better the coffee cake will taste. Use real butter, fresh eggs, and high-quality flour.
  • Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy: This will help to incorporate air into the batter, resulting in a lighter, more tender coffee cake.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition: This will help to prevent the batter from curdling.
  • Add the flour and baking powder in three additions, alternating with the milk: This will help to prevent the batter from becoming too thick or too thin.
  • Do not overmix the batter: Overmixing can result in a tough, dense coffee cake.
  • Bake the coffee cake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean: This will ensure that the coffee cake is cooked through.
  • Let the coffee cake cool completely before frosting: This will help to prevent the frosting from melting.

Conclusion:

Snickerdoodle coffee cake is a delicious and easy-to-make treat that is perfect for any occasion. With its tender crumb, sweet cinnamon swirl, and creamy frosting, this coffee cake is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it. So next time you're looking for a special breakfast or dessert, give this snickerdoodle coffee cake a try.
