Time 1h

Yield 5 apples

Number Of Ingredients 6

5 apples
Nonstick cooking spray
One 11-ounce bag caramel bits
One 7-ounce jar marshmallow creme
1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
One 16-ounce package chocolate-flavored almond bark, broken into pieces

Steps:

  • Wash and dry the apples and remove their stems. Insert a small stick into each apple. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly coat with cooking spray. Put the caramel bits in a saucepan with 2 tablespoons water and heat on medium-low, stirring occasionally, until melted and smooth. Holding the stick, dip each apple into the caramel and place on the prepared baking sheet. Chill until set, 10 to 12 minutes. Put the marshmallow creme in a microwave-safe bowl and heat for 30 seconds until smooth, warm and puffed. Stir well. Dip each apple into the marshmallow mixture and return to the baking sheet. Transfer to the refrigerator to set, about 15 minutes. Put the graham crackers crumbs in a bowl and set aside. Put the almond bark pieces in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring in between each, until completely melted and smooth. Dip each marshmallow-coated caramel apple in the chocolate, and then in the graham cracker crumbs. Return to the baking sheet until set.

Time 15m

Yield 6-8

Number Of Ingredients 5

6 -8 apples (Granny Smith is good)
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 (28 ounce) bag large marshmallows
10 ounces milk chocolate (or semi sweet, or dark)
2 cups crushed graham crackers

Steps:

  • Remove stems and skewer apples by twisting off the stem. If skewer is blunt, sharpen with utility knife.
  • Working on a flat surface, firmly grip your apple and push the skewer 2/3 of the way inches If any juice leaks out, blot the fruit with a paper towel before dipping.
  • In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Add the marshmallows, and stir until melted.
  • Dip apples, one at a time, then transfer to a parchment lined baking sheet.
  • Refrigerate until set, about 15 minutes.
  • Then in a double boiler(I just set one pan over another pan with water). over low heat, melt the milk chocolate, stirring contiuously.
  • Dip an apple into the chocolate, stopping 2/3 of the way up. Immediately dip the lower third of the apple into a bowl of crushed grahm crackers, rotating to coat evenly. Transfer to a parchment lined baking sheet.
  • Repeat for all apples and refrigerate until set, about 15 minutes. Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Use ripe apples. Ripe apples are sweeter and have a softer texture, which makes them ideal for dipping.
  • Choose apples that are firm enough to hold their shape when dipped. Soft apples will fall apart when dipped.
  • Wash the apples thoroughly before dipping them. This will remove any dirt or pesticides that may be on the apples.
  • Use a variety of toppings. You can use chocolate chips, nuts, sprinkles, or whatever else you like. Get creative and have fun!
  • If you are using a chocolate ganache, make sure it is thick enough to coat the apples. If the ganache is too thin, it will not stick to the apples.

Conclusion:

Smores dipped apples are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that is perfect for any occasion. They are a great way to use up leftover graham crackers and marshmallows, and they are always a hit with kids and adults alike. So next time you are looking for a fun and festive treat, give smores dipped apples a try.
