Tips:

  • Choose the right potatoes: Waxy potatoes, such as Yukon Gold or Red Bliss, hold their shape well and won't become mushy when cooked. This is important for a potato salad, as you want the potatoes to retain their texture.
  • Cook the potatoes properly: The potatoes should be cooked until they are tender but still firm. This will help them hold their shape and prevent them from becoming mushy.
  • Let the potatoes cool completely: Before you add the potatoes to the salad, let them cool completely. This will help to prevent the salad from becoming watery.
  • Use a flavorful dressing: The dressing is what really makes a potato salad special. Use a dressing that is flavorful and complements the other ingredients in the salad.
  • Add some protein: If you want to make your potato salad more filling, add some protein. This could include bacon, ham, chicken, or tofu.
  • Add some vegetables: Vegetables are a great way to add color, flavor, and nutrition to your potato salad. Some good options include celery, onion, and bell pepper.
