SMOKY BBQ KETCHUP

Smoky Bbq Ketchup image

With family barbeques right around the corner, I thought I'd share a few "Designer Ketchups" that I have made in the past. They are very good and I've even made them as gifts, just fill new condiment squeeze bottles, make fun labels for each one, and place in a wooden box filled with your choice of packing material.

Yield 10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 1/2 cups ketchup
1/2 cup molasses
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 -2 drop liquid smoke

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, combine the ketchup, molasses, Worcestershire sauce, nutmeg, and liquid smoke and mix well.

Tips:

  • To make the ketchup, start by gathering all the necessary ingredients: tomatoes, vinegar, brown sugar, onion, garlic, mustard powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
  • Next, prepare the tomatoes by removing the cores and chopping them into small pieces. Peel and chop the onion and garlic as well.
  • In a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat, combine the tomatoes, vinegar, brown sugar, onion, garlic, mustard powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
