Time 20m

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 lb pasta shells, any kind, uncooked
8 ounces of chopped smoked deli turkey
1 cup chopped celery
1 1/2 cups red seedless grapes, halved
1 cup chopped green onion
1 cup light mayonnaise or 1 cup regular mayonnaise
1/3 cup light sour cream or 1/3 cup regular sour cream
1 1/2 tablespoons chopped fresh tarragon or 1 teaspoon dried tarragon
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
salt and pepper

Steps:

  • Cook the pasta according to package directions and drain.
  • Rinse under cold water and drain again.
  • In a large bowl, stir together the pasta turkey, celery, grapes and onions.
  • In a small bowl, stir together the other ingredients.
  • Toss the pasta with the dressing.
  • Add salt and pepper, if desired.
  • Serve chilled.

Tips:

  • Choose the right turkey. Smoked turkey is the best choice for this salad, as it has a rich, smoky flavor that will stand up to the other ingredients. You can use either deli meat or leftover roasted turkey. If using deli meat, be sure to get thick-sliced turkey so that it doesn't get lost in the salad.
  • Use a variety of pasta shapes. This will add visual interest and texture to the salad. Some good options include penne, rotini, macaroni, and bow-tie pasta.
  • Don't overcook the pasta. It should be cooked al dente, or slightly firm to the bite. This will prevent it from becoming mushy in the salad.
  • Use a light dressing. A vinaigrette or mayonnaise-based dressing is a good choice, as it won't weigh down the salad. Be sure to season the dressing to taste with salt, pepper, and herbs.
  • Add your favorite mix-ins. This is where you can get creative and customize the salad to your liking. Some good options include diced celery, carrots, red onion, bell pepper, cucumber, tomatoes, cheese, nuts, and seeds.

Conclusion:

Smoked turkey pasta salad is a delicious and versatile dish that is perfect for potlucks, picnics, and barbecues. It is also a great way to use up leftover turkey after Thanksgiving or Christmas. With so many different ways to make it, you're sure to find a recipe that you love. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, give smoked turkey pasta salad a try!
