Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 package cream cheese, softened at room temperature
1 cup chopped fresh herbs: chives, dill and scallions
1 medium-length cucumber
1/2 pound smoked salmon, sliced thinly
1 package flour tortillas

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, mix cream cheese with chopped herbs and set aside. Slice cucumber very thinly lengthwise using a mandolin or very sharp knife. Spread 3/4 of a tortilla with a layer of the cream cheese mixture (this way the spread won't ooze out when you roll it). With the uncovered portion at the top, arrange a layer of cucumber slices vertically from the bottom edge of the tortilla and then a layer of salmon slices horizontally. Roll tightly. (Use a sushi mat if you own one.) Chill, seam side down, covered with a slightly damp paper towel and plastic wrap. When ready to serve, cut on the bias in 1 1/2-inch slices, discarding uneven ends, and arrange on a serving platter.

SMOKED SALMON WRAP

Smoked Salmon Wrap image

My favorite breakfast/lunch restaurant serves this tasty wrap. It's really HUGE, and I always share with my girlfriend, or bring the other half home. Here's my version, in single servings for two, or just make one, and save the rest of the salmon for another day! I'm so hooked on this wrap, I started making it at home for...

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 8 inch spinach tortillas
whipped cream cheese
generous amount of red onion, slivered
1 tsp capers, or to taste, on each wrap
very thin slices of cucumber, skin on
a thick layer of baby spinach
3 oz package, sliced and ready to eat, smoked salmon, divided

Steps:

  • 1. With a knife, spread a thick layer of cream cheese, in the center of the tortilla, leaving room at the bottom to fold up, and sides in.
  • 2. Now layer in order, on top of cream cheese, red onions, capers, cucumbers, spinach. Top with half of the sliced smoked salmon.
  • 3. Fold the bottom of the tortilla up, and the sides in. Secure with a toothpick. It's not the prettiest presentation, but it surely tastes delicious! Enjoy!
  • 4. Feel free to add more, or less, of any of the ingredients. But to me, this hits the spot! The salmon is rich, and I can only eat one wrap. But I know there are others with a larger appetite than mine, so enjoy just one wrap, or both!

Tips:

  • Choose the right ingredients: Use high-quality smoked salmon, fresh cream cheese, and crisp vegetables for the best results.
  • Prepare the smoked salmon: If using a whole side of smoked salmon, remove the skin and any bones. Cut the salmon into thin slices.
  • Spread the cream cheese: Use a spatula to spread a thin layer of cream cheese onto each tortilla.
  • Add the toppings: Arrange the smoked salmon, vegetables, and any other desired toppings on top of the cream cheese.
  • Roll up the wraps: Starting from one side, tightly roll up each tortilla, ensuring that the filling is evenly distributed.
  • Chill the wraps: Wrap the rolled-up wraps in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving. This will help the flavors to meld and the wraps to hold their shape.
  • Slice and serve: Cut the chilled wraps into 1-inch thick slices and arrange them on a serving platter. Garnish with additional herbs or vegetables, if desired.

Conclusion:

Smoked salmon wraps are a delicious and versatile appetizer or light meal that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. They are easy to make and can be customized to suit your own taste preferences. With their combination of smoky, creamy, and fresh flavors, these wraps are sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, give smoked salmon wraps a try!
