Time 2h40m

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 lb. ground beef
1 Tbsp. worcheshire
1 lb. bacon
1 Tsp. salt
1 Tsp. pepper
1 Tsp. garlic (minced )
1 Tsp. paprika
1/2 white onion (minced)
8 Oz. cheddar cheese
6 hamburger buns

Steps:

  • Cook bacon and crumble, set aside in a small bowl. Shred the cheese and set aside in a small bowl.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, worcheshire, salt, pepper, garlic, paprika, and onion. Mix well to combine and form into 12 thin patties (about ¼" thick) I find it is easiest to use your hands for this part but if you have a burger press even better!
  • Preheat smoker to 200 degrees F for 15 minutes.
  • Arrange 6 patties on a cutting board. Press lightly to form a slight indent in the centre. Fill each centre with about 2 tbsp of crumbled bacon and shredded cheese. Then, top each with remaining patties. Pinch the edges to seal.
  • Place patties directly onto the grill grate and close the lid. Smoke for 2.5 hours until internal temperature hits 165 degrees F.
  • Place burger buns onto grill grates for 10 minutes towards the end of cooking time.
  • Arrange burger patties and top with desired toppings.

BACON CHEDDAR STUFFED BURGERS

The original recipe is from the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board but has been altered some. Other stuffing suggestions are salsa and pepper jack, blue cheese and sauteed red onion, mushroom and swiss (yum!), feta and olives, or smoked provolone and roasted red peppers.

CHEDDAR-STUFFED TURKEY BURGERS

Cheddar-Stuffed Turkey Burgers image

I love burgers that ooze cheese when you bite into them, but turkey burgers typically fall apart when you make them with a chunk of cheese in the center. Instead of working against the ingredients, I work with them.

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 23

For The Turkey Burgers
1 pound ground turkey
1/4 cup sharp cheddar, diced small
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Olive oil spray
1/4 cup caramelized onions
4 ciabatta rolls or whole wheat buns
4 romaine leaves, halved
1 avocado, sliced
Pickled jalapeño rings (optional)
1/4 cup Salsa Ranch Dip
For The Salsa Ranch Dip
1/2 clove garlic, minced
3 tablespoons minced fresh chives
2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley
1/2 teaspoon minced fresh dill
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
2 cups 0% Greek yogurt
1 tablespoon white vinegar
1/4 cup salsa

Steps:

  • Salsa Ranch Dip
  • Combine all the ingredients in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth. (If you don't have a blender or food processor, just stir everything together in a bowl-the texture will be different but it will still be delicious.)
  • Burgers and Assembly
  • In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, cheese, Worcestershire, salt, and pepper. Mix together with your hands until just combined-you don't want tough burgers.
  • Divide the meat mixture into four portions and roll each into a ball. Place each ball on a large plate and squish it down into a flat patty. Press your thumb into the center to create a little well. This will help the burgers keep their flat shape.Spray the grill with olive oil and heat it to medium heat. Grill the patties on direct heat for 5 minutes, covered and undisturbed. Flip once, cover, and grill for another 4 to 6 minutes, until cooked through. To assemble the burgers, smear the caramelized onions on the bottom half of each roll or bun. Top with romaine and place a cooked patty on each. Add avocado slices and jalapeño rings, if using. Smear the top halves of the buns with Salsa Ranch Dip, then place them on the burgers and serve.

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 1/2 pounds ground beef chuck
4 ounces cheddar, cut into 4 slabs
Vegetable oil, for grates
Coarse salt and ground pepper
4 hamburger buns, lightly toasted
Toppings, such as lettuce, tomato, red onion, bread-and-butter pickles, and ketchup

Steps:

  • Divide beef into 4 equal portions, and gently form each into a ball. Insert a piece of cheese in the center of each ball, and flatten into 1-inch-thick patties, pinching beef to enclose cheese. Transfer to a plate; with thumb, make a shallow indentation in center of patties, taking care not to expose cheese.
  • Heat grill to high; lightly oil grates. Just before grilling, season patties with salt and pepper. Place on grill; cover, and cook to desired doneness, 2 to 4 minutes per side for medium-rare. Let burgers rest 3 to 4 minutes; serve on buns with desired toppings.

Tips:

  • For the best flavor, use high-quality smoked cheddar cheese. A sharp or extra-sharp cheddar will give you the most intense flavor.
  • Be sure to mix the ground beef and seasonings thoroughly. This will help to ensure that the burgers are evenly seasoned throughout.
  • When stuffing the burgers, be careful not to overstuff them. This will make them difficult to cook evenly.
  • Cook the burgers over medium heat. This will help to prevent them from drying out.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure that the burgers are cooked to your desired doneness. For medium-rare burgers, cook to an internal temperature of 135 degrees Fahrenheit. For medium burgers, cook to an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit. For well-done burgers, cook to an internal temperature of 160 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Let the burgers rest for a few minutes before serving. This will help to keep them juicy.

Conclusion:

Smoked cheddar stuffed burgers are a delicious and easy-to-make meal. They are perfect for a weeknight dinner or a weekend cookout. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a burger that is sure to impress your family and friends.
