Tips:

  • Choose the right turkey breast: Look for a bone-in, skin-on turkey breast that is about 4-5 pounds. This size will fit in a 6-quart slow cooker.
  • Season the turkey breast liberally: Use a combination of salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. You can also add other herbs and spices, such as thyme, rosemary, or sage.
  • Sear the turkey breast before cooking: This will help to brown the skin and lock in the juices. Sear the turkey breast in a large skillet over medium-high heat for about 2 minutes per side.
  • Add vegetables and broth to the slow cooker: Use a variety of vegetables, such as sweet potatoes, carrots, celery, and onions. Add enough broth to cover the vegetables and turkey breast.
  • Cook the turkey breast on low for 6-8 hours: The turkey breast is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Let the turkey breast rest before carving: Let the turkey breast rest for about 10 minutes before carving. This will help the juices to redistribute throughout the meat.

Conclusion:

Slow cooker turkey breast with sweet potatoes is a delicious and easy meal that is perfect for a weeknight dinner or a holiday gathering. The turkey breast is cooked to perfection in the slow cooker, and the sweet potatoes are tender and flavorful. Serve the turkey breast with a side of gravy and cranberry sauce for a complete meal.
