2 cups packed brown sugar
1 (8 lb) smoked ham

Steps:

  • Trim thick skin (rind), and fat off ham.
  • Spread about 1 1/2 cups of brown sugar on the bottom off the slow cooker crock.
  • Place the ham flat side down into slow cooker. Rub remaining brown sugar onto top of ham.
  • Cover, and cook on Low for 6-8 hours.

1 cup maple syrup
1 (20 ounce) can crushed pineapple (you can use slices or chunks)
1/2 cup of crosse & blackwell ham glaze
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons cinnamon

Steps:

  • Combine the maple syrup, pineapple, ham glaze, brown sugar, and cinnamon in the crock pot. Mix well.
  • Add the ham and stir to mix well.
  • Cook on low 4 - 5 hours or high for 2 - 3 hours.

I prefer to leave my ham whole once it's done cooking, but others have said they like to shred the ham into chunks and mix the cooked pineapple with it.

1 (15.25 ounce) can pineapple rings
1 (16 ounce) can cola-flavored carbonated beverage (such as Pepsi®)

2 cups of apple juice, orange juice, or chicken broth
Additional spices, to taste

Steps:

  • Place the ham and liquid in the slow cooker. Cook one hour on high. This will get the temperature of the slow cooker high enough to thoroughly cook the ham. Turn the slow cooker temperature to low and cook for six to eight hours. The picnic ham is fully cooked when its internal temperature reaches 160 degrees Fahrenheit. Remove the ham from the slow cooker and set it on a platter on the counter. Cover it lightly with aluminum foil. Let the ham rest for 10 minutes. It is now ready to serve.
