1 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup applesauce
1/4 cup ketchup
3 tablespoons lemon juice

1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 large onion, halved, thinly sliced
1/2 cup apple juice
1 (16 -18 ounce) bottle barbecue sauce, about 1 1/2 cups
