Tips:

  • Choose the right cut of turkey: For this recipe, it is recommended to use boneless, skinless turkey breast. It cooks quickly and evenly in the slow cooker, resulting in tender and juicy sandwiches. You can also substitute chicken breast or lean pork loin if you prefer.
  • Use a flavorful marinade: The marinade not only adds flavor to the turkey but also helps to keep it moist and tender during cooking. The recipe suggests a simple marinade made with olive oil, garlic, herbs, and spices, but you can adjust it to your liking. You can also add a splash of white wine or lemon juice for extra flavor.
  • Cook the turkey on low heat: Slow cooking allows the turkey to cook gently and evenly, resulting in fall-apart tender meat. Cook the turkey on low for 6-8 hours or until it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  • Shred the turkey: Once the turkey is cooked, remove it from the slow cooker and let it cool slightly. Then, use two forks to shred the turkey into bite-sized pieces. You can also use a meat shredder for easier shredding.
  • Assemble the sandwiches: To assemble the sandwiches, simply pile the shredded turkey, roasted peppers, spinach, and cheese onto toasted bread. You can add additional toppings such as sliced tomatoes, onions, or avocado. Drizzle with a balsamic glaze or your favorite dressing for added flavor.

Conclusion:

These slow-cooker Italian turkey sandwiches are a delicious and easy meal that is perfect for busy weeknights or casual gatherings.
