The hamburger entree came from my mother, who is a real down-to-center country cook. Because it calls for a can of soup, there's no fussing. The filling can also double as a flavorful baked potato topping.-Leann Jasper, Newmarket, Ontario

Yield 6 sandwiches

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 tablespoons grapeseed oil
1 pound beef tenderloin, diced
1 teaspoon cracked black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup Vidalia onion, minced
1/4 cup green pepper, minced
2 cloves garlic, minced
3 tablespoons steak sauce (preferred: A1 Steak Sauce)
2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
Dash hot sauce
1 teaspoon dry mustard
6 brioche buns, toasted

Steps:

  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add oil. Add beef tenderloin, pepper and salt. Mix together. Allow to cook for a few minutes. Add onions, peppers and garlic and stir. Mix in steak sauce, brown sugar, hot sauce and dry mustard. Cook until browned. Serve on toasted brioche.

Tips:

Use a variety of ground beef. You can use all ground beef, all ground turkey, or a combination of the two. If you're using all ground turkey, you may want to add a little bit of oil to the pan to prevent it from sticking.

Sauté the vegetables until they're soft. This will help to develop their flavor and make the sloppy joes more flavorful.

Use a good quality ketchup. The ketchup is one of the main ingredients in sloppy joes, so it's important to use a good quality one. Look for a ketchup that is thick and flavorful.

Add some Worcestershire sauce. Worcestershire sauce adds a nice savory flavor to sloppy joes.

Don't overcook the sloppy joes. They should be cooked until the meat is cooked through, but not so long that it becomes dry and tough.

Serve sloppy joes on your favorite buns. Hamburger buns, hot dog buns, and slider buns are all good options.

Top sloppy joes with your favorite toppings. Some popular toppings include cheese, onions, pickles, and coleslaw.

Conclusion:

Sloppy joes are a classic American comfort food that is easy to make and delicious to eat. They're perfect for a casual meal with friends and family. With a few simple tips, you can make the best sloppy joes ever. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, give sloppy joes a try!
