Steps:
- 1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- 2. Cook meat slowly in skillet. Drain and put back in skillet. Add ketchup, sugar, mustard, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce and minced onion flakes. Cook slowly over low heat for 10 minutes, to allow meat absorb the sauce.
- 3. Separate dough into 10 biscuits; place each biscuit in ungreased regular-size muffin cups. Firmly press dough in bottom and up side of each cup.
- 4. Divide meat mixture between biscuit cups. Top each biscuit with grated cheese.
- 5. Bake 17 to 20 minutes or until biscuits are golden brown and cheese is melted.
Tips:
- For a quicker and easier version, use pre-made biscuit dough instead of making it from scratch.
- If you don't have a muffin tin, you can also bake the biscuit cups in a greased 9x13 inch baking pan.
- To make the sloppy joe filling ahead of time, simply brown the ground beef and onions, then drain the grease. Add the remaining ingredients and simmer over low heat for 15 minutes. Let cool completely, then store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- If you like your sloppy joes spicy, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes to the filling.
- For a cheesy twist, top each biscuit cup with a slice of cheddar or mozzarella cheese before baking.
