Time 20m

Yield 6 , 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 lb extra lean ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 large egg
1/2 cup fine dry breadcrumb
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated
1 tablespoon fresh parsley (optional)
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce

Steps:

  • Crumble meat into a large bowl.
  • Peel and finely chop the onion and add it to the bowl.
  • Add the egg, beat it slightly.
  • Add the bread crumbs, milk and Parmesan cheese; mix all together with your hands.
  • Tear the parsley (if using) into smaller pieces with your fingers, then add them and the remaining ingredients, except for tomato sauce, and mix again with your hands.
  • Heat a 12 inch nonstick skillet that has a lid over medium high heat.
  • Meanwhile, form the meat mixture into 6 patties no more than 1 inch thick.
  • Place in the hot skillet and cook until the meat is browned and cooked through, 4-6 minutes on each side.
  • Pour the tomato sauce evenly over the patties and cover the skillet, reducing heat to medium low.
  • Continue to cook for 1 minute to heat the tomato sauce through.
  • Remove from the heat and serve.

Tips:

  • Use a skillet. Skillet meatloaves are cooked in a skillet on the stovetop, making them quick and easy to make. No need to wait for the oven to preheat.
  • Choose the right meat. You can use a variety of meats to make skillet meatloaves, including ground beef, ground turkey, ground pork, or a combination of meats. Choose a meat that is lean or extra lean, so that the meatloaves are not too greasy.
  • Add moisture. Skillet meatloaves can be dry, so it's important to add moisture to the meat mixture. You can do this by adding eggs, bread crumbs, milk, or tomato sauce. You can also add vegetables, such as onions, celery, or carrots, to add moisture and flavor.
  • Shape the meatloaves. Once you have mixed the meatloaf ingredients together, shape them into individual meatloaves. You can make them any size you want, but they should be about 1-inch thick.
  • Cook the meatloaves. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the meatloaves. Cook them for about 5 minutes per side, or until they are browned. Then, reduce the heat to low and cook the meatloaves for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until they are cooked through.
  • Serve the meatloaves. Skillet meatloaves can be served with a variety of sides, such as mashed potatoes, vegetables, or salad. You can also top them with ketchup, barbecue sauce, or gravy.

Conclusion:

Skillet meatloaves are a quick, easy, and delicious meal that can be enjoyed by the whole family. They are a great way to use up leftover meat, and they can be customized to your own liking. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, give skillet meatloaves a try.
