Tips:

  • Use a large skillet: A large skillet will allow you to brown the beef and vegetables evenly without overcrowding the pan.
  • Brown the beef in batches: If you're using a lot of beef, brown it in batches so that it doesn't steam instead of brown.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: When you're cooking the vegetables, don't overcrowd the pan. This will prevent them from cooking evenly.
  • Use a flavorful broth: The broth you use will add a lot of flavor to the goulash, so choose one that you like. A good beef broth or chicken broth is a good option.
  • Add the spices and seasonings to taste: The amount of spices and seasonings you add will depend on your personal preference. Start with a small amount and add more to taste.
  • Simmer the goulash for at least 30 minutes: This will allow the flavors to meld together and the beef to become tender.
  • Serve the goulash over egg noodles or mashed potatoes: Egg noodles or mashed potatoes are a classic accompaniment to goulash.

Conclusion:

Skillet goulash is a hearty and flavorful dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. It's easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can have a delicious and satisfying meal that the whole family will enjoy.
