RAPID RISE SKILLET YEAST ROLLS

Rapid Rise Skillet Yeast Rolls image

Sometimes you need rolls FAST. here's a perfect recipe to keep your sleeve for those nights when you want to serve up hot, homemade rolls quickly. FYI, to get the appropriate dough texture, I had to put an additional 1 1/2 cup of flour - so be prepared!

Categories     Breads

Time 55m

Yield 12 Rolls, 12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 tablespoon instant dry yeast
1 cup warm water
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup melted salted butter
1 teaspoon salt
1 large egg
2 1/2-3 cups all-purpose flour

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine yeast, water, and honey. Stir in melted butter, salt, and eggs until combined.
  • Slowly add in the flour, 1 cup at a time, until dough forms into a ball and easily pulls away from the sides of the mixing bowl.
  • Divide into 12 even pieces and shape into balls. Place into a 12-inch cast iron skillet. Cover and let rise 20 minutes, or until double in size.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Brush with another tablespoon of melted butter if desired.
  • Pro Tip: This recipe uses a large amount of yeast to cut rising time as much as possible. If your house is on the colder end, you may want to create a warmer environment for it to proof, or rise. A warm, humid environment between 80 and 90 degrees is ideal for proofing bread. If your house is below 70 to 75 degrees, your rolls will not rise as quickly.

CABBAGE ROLL SKILLET

Cabbage Roll Skillet image

Cabbage, rice, hamburger, garlic, and onions! I love cabbage rolls, but they just take too much time and most recipes make way too much for my hubby and I. So I came up with this skillet dinner one Sunday afternoon.

Provided by pukka brio

Categories     Main Dish Recipes     Stuffed Main Dish Recipes     Stuffed Cabbage

Time 45m

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 12

½ pound ground beef
salt and ground black pepper to taste
½ small onion, minced
1 clove garlic, minced, or more to taste
2 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce
1 (14 ounce) can low-sodium beef broth
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 small head cabbage, sliced
2 cups cooked rice
¼ cup sour cream, or to taste

Steps:

  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season beef with salt and pepper; cook and stir in the hot skillet until browned, about 5 minutes. Add onion and garlic; cook until onion is translucent, 2 to 3 minutes. Add tomato sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, lemon juice, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir until well mixed.
  • Add cabbage to the skillet and bring to a simmer. Cover and let simmer until cabbage is tender, about 20 minutes. Serve over rice with a little sour cream.

Tips:

  • Make sure your yeast is active. Check the expiration date on the package, and if it's more than a few months old, it may not work properly. You can also test the yeast by activating it in a small amount of warm water with a pinch of sugar.
  • Knead the dough until it is smooth and elastic. This will help to develop the gluten in the flour, which will make the rolls chewy and flavorful.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm place until it has doubled in size. This will give the yeast time to work and produce carbon dioxide gas, which will cause the dough to rise.
  • Bake the rolls in a preheated oven until they are golden brown. This will ensure that they are cooked through and have a nice crispy crust.
  • Serve the rolls warm with your favorite toppings. Some popular options include butter, honey, jam, or gravy.

Conclusion:

Skillet dinner rolls are a delicious and easy-to-make side dish that can be enjoyed with a variety of meals. They are perfect for a quick and easy weeknight dinner or a special occasion meal. With just a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can have a batch of warm, fluffy rolls that the whole family will love. So next time you're looking for a delicious and easy side dish, give skillet dinner rolls a try!
